.. can you see me now? ..

today we visited the eye doctor. i haven't been in a few years and recently developed a black spot in my vision. it gets really annoying, let me tell you. so i caved and made an appointment. it worked out well cause c* needed a check up on his eyes - he has chronic redness & irritation.

so we showed up and signed in, i filled out like 12 sheets (okay it was only 5.. but still) and then got taken back. i was put through a prescription test to see what i would need if i got glasses, and then the reading one with the letters. I have perfect vision in one eye and 20/15 in the other. needless to say i don't need glasses. then came the black spot. i told the doctor about it and we started talking about it, he decided it could be a few things and wanted to do a mapping of my eye. so my head was put into a "bubble" dome that shot lights onto the wall and a camera that watched my eye and i had to click a button every time i saw a spot. each eye takes 10 minutes to test.. blah. after all the testing they found nothing abnormal, so they decided to dilate my eyes and take a look inside. so after 3 sets of burning drops and 10 minutes later, i looked like this.

fun, i know. c* thought it was hilarious. after looking around inside they couldn't find anything and decided that whatever it was would resolve itself in a matter of weeks and if it came back then i should come back.

c*'s problem, is on going. so this time the doctor implanted some "silicon implants" (not the boob kind..) into his tear ducts. they are supposed to force the eye to keep the tears around instead of wicking them away like they have been. and he got some steroid drops. hopefully it resolves his ever present red-eye.

we left the doctors office, i wore dark sunglasses indoors.. looked retarded. we went to target to get c*'s prescription filled. he thought it was funny to try and see if i could see stuff and then ask me stupid things like "is there anything you want to look at?" lame.

it is now 2p and my eyesight it back, thank heavens. what an adventure.

.. happy november ..

well here we are in november. so weird to think that the year has really passed us by this quickly. this month is kind of a busy one. i have to admit. we celebrate two birthdays, one wedding anniversary {ours} and thanksgiving. and they all take place in a matter of a week. crazy i know.

this last week we had a japanese foreign exchange student. his name was noya and he was 14. we have had some of these in the past, but never as quiet and shy as he was. he hardly talked to us and spent more time in his room than he did with us. i didn't get a picture of him this whole week, hence the reason why there is none. he was really good at wii and kicked our butts every chance he got. it is always fun and interesting to see what comes from these cute little students. since i was busy with him and the festivities we were asked to participate in, i have yet to take pictures of the awesome halloween decor this year. don't worry though, it is all still up so i promise to do it before we take it down.

i just wanted to wish everyone a happy november, i hope your month is full of thanks and giving.

.. thriller ..

every year around october, i started to get super excited. i LOVE halloween. it is by far my favorite holiday of the whole year, i know i'm weird..

a few years back cody and i went to a show up at kingsbury hall called thriller. it is done by the odyssey dance theater and it is amazing. i grew up as a dancer, and had to end my dancing earlier than planned due to knee surgeries. but i still love dancing and watching it.

.. this is from one of my all time favorite numbers they do, jason ..

.. there are plenty of people that look like this there..

{funny story : last year when we went, one of the "dead" girls saw my brother m* and thought he was cute. so she followed us around all night. at first she tried to scare us, but it didn't work we thought she was cool and even took pictures with her. then she just wanted to have m*. she went and got him milk duds and tried to share, when we went to the bathroom she sat in his seat, and when he came back she tried to sit on his lap.. good times}

the last two years we have gone. last year we invited my brother m* and his girlfriend e* (now wifey..) and my sister k* and her friend e* to go with us. it was a blast. so in the spirit of tradition we are going again this year. in fact we are going tomorrow night. we have expanded our group this year.. mom and dad are joining us, little brother j* and a date are coming, m* and his wife e*, and k* and her husband c* are coming. i am so excited i can hardly wait.

{just for m*, k*, e* and mr c* : "children of the corn" , maybe she will be there this year..}

if you think you might want to go.. click here to connect to their site. but hurry.. the last show is on october 31st!

.. psycho puppy ..

so.. after the passing of tyke, my mom was heartbroken. she spent a lot of time with him during the day when cody and i were at work and school. i felt bad and still to this day don't know how to console her. i don't know what to say or do to make her feel better.

after about 6 months she started toying with the idea of getting a new puppy. she wanted to get a boston terrier. so we started looking. we looked mainly at shelters and rescues, because all dogs need love to. we couldn't find a boston terrier near where we lived, and all the ones we could find were out of state and wouldn't allow us to adopt. so we did searches in the state of utah. we started sorting through the dogs, since we had decided it had to be smaller and preferably a young dog so they could learn to get along with Roxy.

after a few weeks of searching we found Daisy. her name was originally bubblegum and she was in salt lake city utah. so we inquired about her. she is a puppy mill rescue, and was only about 8 weeks old. she is a toy fox terrier, same breed family as roxy - she is a wire hair fox terrier. so we filled out an application for her adoption and waited. on august 6th, after k* wedding we came home and checked the emails. we had one from the rescue, she was available for adoption and she was ours. it was such great news!

the next week my mom and brother drove to get her from the rescue shelter. she weighed 1.5 pounds and was 9 weeks old. we took her to the vet and had to put her on a weight gaining supplement and high fat foods. we are proud to say she has gained 1.5 pounds and is now a healthy 3 pounds.

this last week we started puppy school.

now, she is a high energy playful psycho puppy who runs in circles daily.. tries to eat her tail.. eats rocks {we think she might be building a condo somewhere} .. loves to torment roxy {quite fun to watch actually} .. a snuggle bug and a mooch. so naturally we thought she would love class and her classmates. wrong.

her only other class mate is a boston terrier {ironic i know} named kelso.

now he is really excited to meet her and loves to give kisses and play. she however was not so fond. we just tried our hardest to get her to be okay with him, if we held her and allowed him to come sniff and kiss she did better. we know it was going to be a warming up situation for her. so we finished class and decided to let her walk around the store so it wasn't a scary thing for her. so we started walking and talking about things. well all of a sudden daisy is pulling really hard on her leash. we look down at the end of the aisle and see a alaskan malumute / collie mix. at least 10 times her size.. yep she wanted to play and be friends with that.

psycho puppy.

.. halloween ..

i have a serious love for this holiday.

it is my favorite time of year, i look forward to the smells, decorating and dressing up. this year cody and i are going to dress up, and our costumes are pretty fun.

when we start decorating and getting ready for the night of fun, i will post pictures. be looking forward to it, we don't know what the skeletons will be doing this year.

happy halloween

boo!

.. gym ..

alright so after months of deciding what to do and how to do it, i landed on the idea of getting a trainer. i had a trainer over the summer, just a friend, who helped for a little bit and then got busy with life. i didn't reach my goals and i started to plateau and didn't have anything to turn to. i didn't know what the next step was. so.. after talking with cody and debating about it for a while, we decided to get me a trainer.

i started on wednesday morning, with measurements and a chat. it was slightly embarrassing to be measured in the middle of the gym and have people looking but i did alright. i have goals in place and i am determined to reach them.

i took pictures, but i don't really want to share until i hit a month or two where you can see the difference. so look forward to that!
