..my pilot ..

If you didn't know already, my sweet husband is working on becoming a pilot. Recently he has been finishing up his instrument training.
{for those of you who don't know what this is, let me give you the readers digest version. Instrument rated means he can fly in bad weather, clouds and low visibility. He does this by flying by not looking out the windows, but rather by just the dials and gauges on the dash. All commercial pilots have to be rated to do this, in order to fly. }

He has spent many hours wearing foggles..

which basically look like retarded goggles, I laugh everytime I see them. They block his ability to see out the windows, so he can't cheat!

He has also spent many hours with

on the brain. I know cause I have been the one quizzing him for his tests!

All of his hard foggle flying and airplane brains paid off yesterday.

At the end of every rating, the students are required to go through a series of tests. Usually 3. One with another flight instructor, other than his own. He took his with a friend from Skywest, he said he did great and actually passed his test in the first 10 minutes but he made him go for 3 hours. The next test he meets with the chief flight instructor, which he was kind of nervous for. They flew for about 3 hours and when he landed a friend of ours who works in the tower asked over the radio if he had passed. Cody paused but the instructor gave the nod. He had in deed passed. And the last test, the one he took yesterday, is with a examiner from the FAA. It is the most rigorous of all three and takes almost 5 hours to complete. He had been studying for the past 3 weeks and I have been quizzing him every night the last week in preparation for yesterday. I waited nervously from 8:30 to 12:45p yesterday to hear wonderful news..

HE PASSED!

Yep, Cody is now an instrument rated pilot, Woot Woot! This section is the hardest next to your instructor testing, and he did it. We are so excited! But don't you worry, he isn't taking a break, next week he starts his training for his Multi-Engine rating.

Congratulations babe, you are truly amazing and fighting hard to reach your goals. I couldn't be more proud of you!
