.. comfy much? ..

so on Saturday mornings it is just me and jet. Cody has work at 7:30 in salt lake so he leaves us around 6 in the morning. so we sleep in. well this last week my parents decided to have their carpets cleaned. they needed it trust me! however lately jet has been on this whole terrified of noises thing. i think it all came from when he had his first encounter with fireworks on the 4th. so when he heard the carpet cleaner upstairs start up he was in need of being close to me and comfy, so naturally he picks the window well above my pillow. so he climbed over my head, and cuddled up there and laid his head on my pillow and slept for a while. and oddly enough he did it again last night, just to get comfy not because of a noise.

moral of the story, my dog is weird sometimes.

the end.

.. an attack at the golf course ..

{say hello to Mr. raven}

so last Friday night Cody asked me out on a date. yes i know we are married and you think, why would he ask you out. well cause he is cute like that and even had a date night planned. i watched bachelorette while he showered for our date, that was included in there (and don't tell me about it cause I am still 2 weeks behind. the on demand deleted last weeks before I could watch it, but kept the week before - odd i know.)

{yes we are freaks, i know..}

first up was a round of mini golf at cascade golf course. it is an awesome outdoor mini golf course that we often frequent in the summer for family golf tournaments. Cody has been really into golf lately so i shouldn't have been surprised. we made a bet, winner gets to pick where we go for dinner. so we got our balls and clubs and headed out. we decided to pick the course that we rarely do, just to change it up a bit. when we got over there it was kind of empty. we thought nothing of it and started. we got to hole 2 and found out why it was so empty. i started off first. i didn't do too bad. i started to walk over to my ball so that Cody could putt. and as i walked with my head down a raven, dive bombed me and scratched / pinched my shoulders. i freaked out and screamed and sure enough Cody missed it, he was looking down. i asked him if he had seen it and that i was a tad freaked out. he told me it was probably nothing. but i was on edge. so he putted and then it was my turn again. sure enough as soon as i put my head down he attacked again, this time he didn't get as good of a grip cause Cody saw it and swung his golf club at it. so with that i was done with that side of the course, so we walked with clubs up and in attack mode to the other side.

{this is the face it made while watching me, it is not innocent, trust me!}

{ you can kind of see the scratch on the left and then a dot on the right from his other claw, it killed the rest of the night}

don't worry we had some entertainment out of it. when we got to the other side up on a hill where we could have a good view of the other side we stood at one hole with another guy who we shared our story with and watched it attack a girl on a first date, a teenage boy and a older woman. it was hilarious. i wish i had caught it on video. i started recording and it had just finished it's attack and didn't feel the need to do it twice. and we were nice, once we got down towards the end of our course which is near the start of that course.. we warned like 4 couples of that side and they all believed us, we just had to laugh a little.

and just if you were wondering Cody won and we had CPK for dinner. surprise surprise.

.. meet mr. mischievious ..

so every day i work i go home for lunch and spend time with jet. we usually have lunch and i watch either say yes to the dress or a baking show. it is fun. well the past few weeks he has been really hyper and extremely mischievous. like he secretly steals things and finds things to chew on that he shouldn't, like curtain rods and tulip bulbs.

so i went home to eat lunch this week and found the pups home alone. my mom had a doctors appointment and had taken my brother j* with her, and Cody was getting a manual for the plane he is going to be flying soon. so they had full rein. i walked into the living room to find this.

yes a newspaper, shredded to bits hidden in a million places and him just sitting there looking all innocent and happy. he has an aversion to the business section, and apparently destroying it was just what he needed. so be warned if you come over in the next bit (who knows when he will grow out of this) don't leave things on the floor or it might end up destroyed or as a new chew toy.

.. cruise assistance anyone? ..

alright so as you read before, or maybe you didn't.. Cody and I decided to go on a cruise to the South Caribbean with my brother m* and his wife e* and some friends t* & f*. It is going to rock, but here is the issues.

a. I have never been on a cruise. so what do you pack or expect on these things?
2. what on earth do i do at each port, i want to explore but i don't want to waste time either.
c. how much extra cash should you have on hand for ports and things?

so if you have any advice what so ever I would love it! We are leaving out of San Juan Puerto Rico on August 7th, and we have like a day here before the ship leaves to play so I added it in. Here is the cruise schedule, so just leave a comment if you have an idea.

San Juan, Puerto Rico
St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands
Barbados
St. Lucia, West Indies
St. Kitts, West Indies
St. Maarten, Netherlands

Thanks!!

.. it's just a little cut ..

i have seriously been so bad at updating the blog. like bad. so i thought i would take a few and give you an update. June was busy, we were both working (Cody has 2 part time jobs and works 7 days a week - crazy). we decided to join my brother and sister in law and some friends on a cruise this august and have been planning for that.

the end of June Cody had to have some surgery. it was his first ever and needless to say i think i was more scared about it then he was. i woke up the morning of a bundle of nerves and scared for him and he was totally relaxed until about 5 minutes before he went in. we got there at 9am, and they took his blood and got him changed. look at his super cute purple gown.

this gown is pretty rad, not gonna lie. they finally got smart down there. they have inside the gown a expandable space that connects to a hose that blows either hot or cold air into the gown. thus you don't need 19 heated blankets to stay warm in the hospital only like 2. here is a vent you can kind of see in, this is with the air on and going.

we got all settled answered about a million questions and then we waited. about an hour later the doctor showed up and explained it all to us and then told us that he had a patient that was in ICU that was in critical condition and might not make it. He was going to go and check on him and if he could stabilize he would take Cody first, if not then he would have to butt in line. so we waited, and sure enough the guy couldn't make it. so we had to wait some more. after about 2 hours i asked the nurse for a check up. they said it was pretty bad and that it would be another 2 hours before he could get in. so we waited until 3. at 3 they finally took him back. the surgery was quick only 45 minutes and he was done. the doctor came and talked to me and said he was great and that when he had woken up that they would call for me. so i waited for another hour for them to call and finally got to go back around 5. i got to walk in and see this cute face.

he slept for another hour and then we took a stroll around the halls, he had to walk and go to the bathroom before we could leave. he did both and we were released around 7. we stopped and got him a jamba juice to add to the 8 oreos he scarfed in recovery.

he is doing well though, we are on day 8 and he is great. the cut is healing nice and he is moving much better. he can't lift anything over 5 pounds so that is making life a bit of work seeing how i have to do double the amount of work since he can't. but if all goes well he will get clearance on the 13th of July.

hallelujah!

.. meet the graduate ..

alright so i am like 3 weeks behind on this. i suck as a wife sometimes. right now is one of them. lame. i have been updating my food / diet / gym / whatever blog (click here if you want to take a peek) almost everyday and i forgot that i had another two blogs to update. wow. alright. so on april 28th my hot hunk of a husband walked across the stage and got his diploma. it was definitely a family affair and he loved it every single minute of it. here are a few pictures from that day..

{the front door that i decorated for him }

{cody and i}

{ cody and his aunt donna }

{cody and his mom and step dad, don't mind that she looks upset, she had just finished crying.}

{cody with my brother and parents and me }

{cody and his grandma ruth}

                  {girl sandwich anyone?}

he looked so great and his department was fantastic. they gave all the pilots a set of wings to put on his stol, you can see it in the picture with his grandma, and they gave him the dr. seuss book oh the places you"ll go. and of course an empty leather folder for when they mail his diploma to us. ha ha.

congrats cody on your big day. i was so proud of you, i might have even misted a bit. MAYBE. i am so proud of you making a choice to be great at something and doing it. hopefully our kids will get those genes. congrats graduate.

now that he is graduated i am sure you are all wondering what he will do. or maybe you don't care, but i am going to tell you anyway. HA!

he is still doing a few more flights before he is officially done, only about a month or so. after finishing this off he is going to do his CFI training (certified flight instructor) and start taking on students. since the industry requires 1500 - 2000 hours of flight time before considering you for a job, we got a long way to go. when he is done with his personal training he will have 250 hours. ba ha ha, we will be in school forever. he plans on working there with students building hours and still working at delta on the weekends. then he is going to apply for the air force job again next spring in hopes to fly the kc-135 next year, if not then we will try and get a job with an airline. we got a while to go, but it will be amazing and i know he will do grand at it.

.. my rant ..

alright here we go. before i start this i want everyone who reads this to know.. a. i don't mean to offend anyone, if you get offended it was not meant to be that way. b. i am not fishing for compliments or suggestions, i just want to get it out. c. hopefully this post will not only help me but maybe you?

lately i have been really thinking about my weight, body shape, body type, workouts, diet and etc. i am a typical girl, who compares herself to every other girl i see. such as, 'that girl is so pretty and skinny, i want to be her', ' i wish my hair would look like that', 'how on earth can i look like that'... i think it might qualify as a disease. if that was the case we would have a major epidemic on our hands. i suffered in high school with anorexia. i fought my body a lot. i didn't fit in to what i believe the standards are. i worked hard at that and just decided to be alright with who i am. which for the most part to this day i am. since graduating high school my body has been on a roller coaster. i was pretty fit my freshman and sophmore years, i actually lost weight instead of gaining the freshman 15. then i moved home. i started to have access to foods, sugary foods fatty foods all sorts of yucky foods all the time. i started to pack it on. the day i got married i was at my all time heaviest. sad but true. this is why, i don't ever post pictures of my wedding day. i don't like to look at myself. after cody and i moved into our own place i found myself eating much healthier. i didn't have bags of candies or sodas at our apartment, quite frankly they are too expensive and not worth the money when i could use it else where. i started to drop the pounds. then i was diagnosed with food allergies, and lost 30. it was great, in a weight loss perspective, really sucky in a eating one. after a year and a half on our own we moved in with my parents to explore a job opportunity and it has since turned into a 3 year stint. it was never in the cards to live here this long, just between school and losing jobs it was too much to afford normal rent and my parents were willing to work with us. well, if you can see the trend.. i was back around sugary yucky foods and sodas. and walah. i started packing it back on. sadly. a great fear of mine has always been that i will be huge like an elephant and the person that everyone stares at. i NEVER want to be that. so about a year ago i made the choice to start working out on a regular basis and watch somewhat what i eat. i got a trainer, actually 3 (not all at once), and have renewed my efforts to try.

i can tell a difference in my body, i feel good i am less stressed and way happier. i like working out now. one thing that has always been a struggle for me is the diet part. i work 40 hours a week and between that, workouts, family time, appointments, and working with the youth in my church i rely on my family to cook my meals. not a good thing. don't get me wrong the food is great and delicious, i love it. but a lot of the things aren't healthy. so.. i talked to my trainer about it. we discussed a new diet plan. and it scares me. it is so limited. i have been reading a lot on blogs and what not about girls in my same shoes that just changed to eating clean and that it made all the difference. that there was no calorie counting just being healthy, watch what you eat and don't eat high fats or processed foods. i think this might be a good solution. so with that, i am going to try it out. i set a goal with my trainer to be down 8 pounds by the end of may. Yep. 31 days. about 1.5 pounds a week. first thing on my list to cut out is diet coke. i love it but it is killing me. it does nothing for me. now, i am sure that no one wants to hear about my workouts, food battles and who knows what else.. so i am going to start another blog here, that i will try and update often with pictures and workouts and what kinds of things i am trying to eat. if you want to follow it, check it out, ignore it or join in, feel free. the more the merrier.

the end.
