. jet+mom-dad= boy's trip to vegas .

so last weekend cody and my brothers went to vegas to go to the St. George air show.  I definitely wanted my brothers to have some bonding time, and I was okay not going to the air show. I have been slammed every weekend for the last few weeks with baby showers, wedding receptions, speaking at conferences and family gigs. it is intense. that and jet likes cody way more so i was hoping by being home he would maybe like me more.

so I voted to stay home and just relax. 

They left friday afternoon, and we were on our own. I worked until 5 and then came home. We live with my parents, so it was me and my rents. when i got home, we decided to run an errand to the fabric store - i am crossing another thing off my list, making a skirt by myself - and then to get cheap tacos, my dad's favorite. we were off. we ran and got fabric and tacos and were back by 7:30. we ate dinner and then decided to watch Puss in Boots. which I can say was actually pretty good. after all this excitement jet and i headed down to bed. 

he passed out in about 20 minutes and i decided to catch up on my grey's anatomy. i was like 4 episodes behind. so i watched 2, and then called it a night. the next morning was st. patricks day. we ate breakfast and then grocery shopping, do you like my dad's green? you could get a prize at the store if you were wearing green, he used the canvas shopping bags. clever.

 after which i got to sewing my skirt, i almost finished it. we had stake conference so we got ready for that by going to dinner at 4:45. I felt like a 60 year old lady, so lame. after dinner it was conference and then home for dessert and mille bournes with erica and watching march madness. {how are your brackets??} then bed, i finished up the last 2 episodes and then called it a night. the next morning we had part two of stake conference and home. i had been feeling sick all weekend, like ear ache and sore throat so i laid down for a nap, 4 hours later i woke up to dinner and people in the house. and snow.

wow. Cody got home just after dinner and boy were we excited to see him. 

so in the end, i relaxed like i wanted, jet was my friend for a few days - nice change, and cody had fun. success. 

. do you.. want to go for a walk? .

this phrase is like gold to little jet's ears. seriously, he perks up and is off to the door in mere seconds. recently the weather is perking up and acting spring like, yay! so we have started our long walks with Jet. We go on walks to the retirement home to see the ducks, 

we go to the local elementary school to play on the playground and run in the park, 

we even have trekked down university avenue. 

this kiddo loves walks. LOVES them. But it is good for him and great for use. we get quality family time and a workout all in one.

. my niece is cuter than your niece .

alright, so I have to brag, cause I can. Cody and I have 3 nieces and 1 nephew and they are the cutest. recently our oldest niece c* turned 7. yep 7. I feel old. we decided instead of guessing what to get her for her birthday we would take her out for ice cream and to claires where she could choose her own present. We mailed her a card, complete with glitter and all, asking her if she would like to go. We promptly got a phone call from her mom with her in the background telling her she could go and that she better hurry and tell us. love her. 

we picked her up on a saturday afternoon and we were off. we took her to claires where we were able to get her a scarf of her choosing, which we have been informed now goes with her everywhere. we then took her out for ice cream at Farrs. she built her own ice cream, and it was a crazy concoction. Kids stomaches are way tougher than adults that is all I can say about that. 

a few days later we were lucky enough to attend her first grade program. they sang and had speaking parts and danced. too cute. after it was over we got to go to her classroom and meet her class mates and her teacher. she also read to us her report on Australia, which she studied this year. She is quite a little star I will tell you what. Way smarter than I was at her age.

. the big ONE .

{jet bug after playing with his birthday toys}

so, as i had mentioned in an earlier post, jet turned ONE on january 16th. so naturally we had to celebrate. it was a crazy day though, so it was small. forgive us bud, we can do it grander next year. 

of course we had to have a birthday hug / kiss. jet wasn't as fond of it if you can tell. but he tolerates us, he is great.

grandma was super nice and helped us out by making us funfetti cupcakes, and little baby ones for jet and his friends daisy and roxy. he was so excited he could barely contain himself.

dad fed him about 4 cupcakes that night (against mom and her requests), which resulted in terrible smelling gas. but he enjoyed it so we had to indulge. he is too cute, especially on his birthday.

.. what's up pussy cat - wahoo, wahoo ohhh .

so i suck at blogging. life has gotten way to busy it seems. like i feel like i can't even catch up. it is killing me. so i thought i would take these few moments that i do have, and update the situation. 

since january, jet has his first birthday. yay. i need to do a blog post on that, and i will maybe this weekend. don't judge me. we found out that my younger sister is having a baby boy in june. my brother m* had a birthday, he joined the mid- twenties crew. ha ha. my youngest brother applied for his eagle, since we did his project - finally. 

{we got our eyes checked, um yeah i had to have my eyes dilated because i have a 'floater' in my vision- which is a glorified answer for there is a black spot in your vision and we don't know why, where it is or how to get rid of it, good luck. Cody also had his done, his prescription changed, he is blinder - it is a word today, don't judge.}

{jet discovered snow, he LOVES it. he shoves his face in the snow every chance he gets, minus the slush. he is a priss}

and most importantly, cody took his commercial check ride (for all you non-flight peeps, it is like a chapter test before the final. if you can pass this they recommend you for the final test with the big cheese flight peoples.) phew! we are so excited, he is a mere 7.5 flight hours away from being mailed his diploma. can i get a woot woot?! we are stoked. which leads to the next adventure / process. cody is going to start doing stuff for his CFI (translation : Certified, Flight, Instructor. = take newbie scary and possibly sketchy students up in the air and teach them how to fly. i am terrified he is excited. i told him he HAD to get his concealed weapons permit and that we will be purchasing a fire arm). the cost for this training, i feel is astronomical. but we have to pay for it none the less. So here comes the other part.. i need to start picking up business as far as photography or designing invites goes so i can help pay for this outrageous training. so if you would be so kind as to pass along to anyone you may know that i am looking for work, that would be FANTASTIC. I will give them a deal and what not. just spread the word peeps, so i can finally be done with school. and when i say i, i really mean us.

. hey shorty.. it's your birthday .

it is a great day in deed. Jet turns one today, yep one. here are a few things you may or may not know about him.. 

he snores loudly when he sleeps
his farts are toxic, I am sure of this

he loves to cuddle and won't go to bed at night without touching someone
he loves squeeky toys, anything with a squeeker in it he is there

 hates the smell of nail polish

he is terrified of cats

will eat just about anything, trust us on that one

he barks while he eats, yes with food in his mouth, this is a new one

he thinks he is a lap dog, and does attempt almost daily to lay on your lap

he loves playing with daisy, she is his favorite

we flew to adopt him in Oklahoma city. he knew us for about 2 hours before we got on the plane home

his is very stubborn and very mischievous

he is very protective, if you feel sick of sad he is there and on guard

he is obsessed with car rides, like loves them

if you want him to go somewhere and he is being stubborn just ask him if he wants to race, he will go

we sure love this boy, he has brought unbelievable amounts of joy and laughter to us. so fluff, on your birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I have picked up a few jobs, but I am ALWAYS looking for new ones, so if you know anyone that wants or needs photos done let them know, I would love the business.

16 { try 5 new dessert recipes }

I have tried 2, one was a huge hit - sopapilla cheesecake bars. yum!

I am also working on this.. so I will try to keep this up and work on it.

27 { make a snow angel }

 This is proving difficult. It has yet to snowed in Utah, yes I know it is January. Once it snows, all over it.

as for the fun thing that relates to #7. I decided to try out Project Life. it is a fun scrapbooking / journaling thing that you keep track of all your weeks in one fun book. So i decided to give it a try. I ordered some of the fun little cards today, and I am picking up my album at work soon so I can get started. This way I journal and I have photos. it will be great!!
