so.. after the passing of tyke, my mom was heartbroken. she spent a lot of time with him during the day when cody and i were at work and school. i felt bad and still to this day don't know how to console her. i don't know what to say or do to make her feel better.
after about 6 months she started toying with the idea of getting a new puppy. she wanted to get a boston terrier. so we started looking. we looked mainly at shelters and rescues, because all dogs need love to. we couldn't find a boston terrier near where we lived, and all the ones we could find were out of state and wouldn't allow us to adopt. so we did searches in the state of utah. we started sorting through the dogs, since we had decided it had to be smaller and preferably a young dog so they could learn to get along with Roxy.
after a few weeks of searching we found Daisy. her name was originally bubblegum and she was in salt lake city utah. so we inquired about her. she is a puppy mill rescue, and was only about 8 weeks old. she is a toy fox terrier, same breed family as roxy - she is a wire hair fox terrier. so we filled out an application for her adoption and waited. on august 6th, after k* wedding we came home and checked the emails. we had one from the rescue, she was available for adoption and she was ours. it was such great news!
the next week my mom and brother drove to get her from the rescue shelter. she weighed 1.5 pounds and was 9 weeks old. we took her to the vet and had to put her on a weight gaining supplement and high fat foods. we are proud to say she has gained 1.5 pounds and is now a healthy 3 pounds.
this last week we started puppy school.
now, she is a high energy playful psycho puppy who runs in circles daily.. tries to eat her tail.. eats rocks {we think she might be building a condo somewhere} .. loves to torment roxy {quite fun to watch actually} .. a snuggle bug and a mooch. so naturally we thought she would love class and her classmates. wrong.
her only other class mate is a boston terrier {ironic i know} named kelso.
now he is really excited to meet her and loves to give kisses and play. she however was not so fond. we just tried our hardest to get her to be okay with him, if we held her and allowed him to come sniff and kiss she did better. we know it was going to be a warming up situation for her. so we finished class and decided to let her walk around the store so it wasn't a scary thing for her. so we started walking and talking about things. well all of a sudden daisy is pulling really hard on her leash. we look down at the end of the aisle and see a alaskan malumute / collie mix. at least 10 times her size.. yep she wanted to play and be friends with that.
