. grass, beef and cotton - yes they share a commonality .

this poor guy

has allergies. we recently have been having some issues with his skin. he gets bald spots, really red skin and scratches to no end. we have been working with the vet for a while now, trying steroids and antibiotics to get it under control and we decided the next step to test him for allergies. so a few weeks ago we had a bit of blood drawn and sent to the lab. we got the results this week. he tested positive to 22 allergens. for reals?!? poor kiddo.

{all the red is what he tested positive for, yellow is he shows some but can tolerate it}

a few of them, i feel like a terrible mother, were in his food. like he is allergic to beef, lamb, oats, barley and salmon. worst mother of the year cause we tried changing up foods and i am pretty certain i feed him all of those things. another that just kills me is grass. are you kidding, he is a dog. a DOG. wow. needless to say yesterday started some major changes at our house like 2x a week bath nights, cleaning the paws every night and new food. wish us luck, i have food allergies and it is a challenge trying to figure stuff out, now i get to do it for my dog, who can't really express if it is working or not. ahhhh.

. one stick, two stick, red stick, giant stick .

so now that the weather is warmer, jet is loving the outdoors. he goes outside all the time, whenever he pleases really thanks to a doggie door. lately he has been into sticks. and not just twigs, but sticks and even branches. like huge. so on sunday he was playing outside and found a stick that his uncle j* had taken the bark off for him so he could chew it without a huge mess. so he was stoked. he tried to bring it in the doggie door. it is too wide for the doggie door, but he tried and kept on trying. gotta love his efforts.  dad eventually caved and let him in through the normal door and he spent the rest of the evening gnawing that thing to death. he is just too cute.

. officially a gun owner, yikes .

so this last weekend cody wanted to go buy a gun. I have been waiting and pushing this one off and I couldn't do it any longer. I thought for sure we would be gun owners when we got prego and if it was a girl. but nope, we are gun owners because he now has a concealed weapon permit, a requirement from me if he was going to be a CFI. I get nervous. So I told him he had to save his pennies and buy it himself. so all of a sudden he was in to work and saving what he could, even change to save enough. And he did it this weekend. man oh man.

on saturday we made the trek to Cabela's and started the 3 hour process of getting a gun. We had to wait 30 minutes just to get the gun pulled from the case, they were busy that day. After we told him what gun he wanted and tested it out made sure it was what he wanted we had to fill out paper work and have a background check ran. this took about 50 minutes. We shopped around, checked out the big animal hall and got a drink and a cookie and then went back to sign paperwork and then purchase the gun. We had to of course show everyone, and tell everyone in our families so that is what we did the rest of our Saturday.

He can't wait to go shoot it, and get good with it. I am a little afraid of the fact that we are now gun owners. oui.

. just lunch with dad .

so last weekend was easter. I had the friday before, good friday, off from work and it was great. I spent the day just relaxed. I woke up and had breakfast with jet and we spent time playing and I started working on project life when we decided to surprise dad with lunch at the shop. Cody had been 'shop sitting' untouchables {click here for more info} while the owner and his wife were on a cruise, lucky. So we got dad his favorite drink, a rockstar and picked up lunch at wendy's and met him there. It was a fun little adventure and jet got to wear his super cute hoodie since it was snowing that day.

he is too cute..

thanks dad for the fun times!

. officially a pilots wife .

so, as I mentioned in the previous post I am on proud wife of a new commercial pilot. Cody has spent months, and years studying and it all came to fruition two weeks ago. Cody took his commercial pilot check ride and passed on the first try and was done about an hour shorter than we expected and were told. He got great marks from the examiner, and was told that he had the knowledge already for his CFI which is wonderful! He started working on his CFI this past week and should be able to take on students soon. Woot Woot!! We are officially done with school, *sigh*.

Congrats babe, so incredibly proud of you and your drive, dedication and passion.

. a graduation trip .

so i feel old, my youngest brother j* is graduating from high school this year. it is strange. after much debate cody and i decided that we would take j* on a trip of his choice for his graduation present. he chose washington dc. so it was on. the week we decided to go, cody ended up scheduling his check ride {this is for another post} so he couldn't go with us so he could study it up. so the last week of march it was on. here are some pictures from our trip.

so day one we got into baltimore around 5:30, by the time we rode the train into down town and then to the hotel we were starving.

{ticket}

we had breakfast at 8 am utah time and that was the last meal we had. so we trekked to capitol city brewery, it is amazing and waited for a table. it was the best meal. j* got a bloody nose in the middle of dinner, and had to have a tissue up his nose all through dinner.

{bloody nosed j*}

we walked around and just ended up going back and go to bed. We were pooped.

{this rad fire station is next to our hotel, it is historic like one of the first in the city}

the next morning we got up and ran to the national air and space museum and walked through that and the museum of natural history.

{national air and space museum runway, this is for cody}

{the spirit of st louis at the national air and space museum}

{mammoth at the natural history museum}

both so cool. after the museums we went to potbellys sandwich works which is also delightful. we then decided to hit up all the monuments. we started at the jefferson and walked to fdr, mlk, lincoln, korean war, world war 2, and the washington monument.

{MLK memorial}

{washington monument at night}

{at the lincoln memorial}

{washington monument from the lincoln}

{the cherry blossoms at the FDR monument, it was the 100 yr anniversary of the blossoms!}

 by this time we walked to the white house and checked that out and then we went to dinner at the hard rock cafe. yum! after this we stopped in to crumbs and got some cupcakes to try and headed back. the cupcakes were delicious!

{crumbs}

the next morning we tried to get into Ford's theater but the tickets were sold out. sad. so we decided to shop instead. we checked out a whole street and ended up finding the spy museum. it was pretty cool, but we didn't have time to go through it so we just checked out the store.

{watch out for the gnome}

then we headed back packed up and headed to the airport.

{us on the way to the airport, it was j* first time on a subway, don't mind that he smiles nice and i am retarded. it was a day}

since we travel standby we have to wait to see if we can make it. turns out we didn't. but we had to make a backup plan. we flew to nyc for the night, our chances of getting out were better. so we got to nyc, checked into a hotel and then went to times square. we ate at hard rock and walked around.

{us at the hard rock, apparently i only have one face}

 j* started to get sick so we headed back. turns out the express train we got on turned into a local at night and what should have taken us 30 minutes turned into 2 hours. killer. we got to the hotel around 1 and we had to be up and out to the airport by 5. 4 hours of sleep yum.

the next day we got up and to the airport and we didn't make the first flight so, we got breakfast and then j* crashed on the floor on our luggage. i spent time watching a set of birds eating crumbs left behind by the most cute girl.

{ the little birdie who brought me 4 hours of entertainment}
we made it on the second flight home and lets just say i am still not caught up on sleep.

but it was a blast!

happy graduation j*!

and if you didn't hear, he got a full ride scholarship to UVU that can be renewed if he keeps a 3.0. he starts this fall!
